Age Divisions & “Playing Up”
Washington Youth Soccer has announced a change to the age group formation cycle, moving to an August 1 – July 31 age range. This will take effect for the Fall 2026 season (2026–2027 registration cycle). We understand this may be an adjustment for families, especially for players near the cutoff dates.

• UPSC will allow existing teams to stay together whenever possible.

• Players may choose to play up to remain with their current team.

• All U5/U6 players will follow the new age group formation rules.

• "Playing up" is typically considered beginning at U9, requires demonstration higher-level ability, and must be approved by the coach.

All "playing up" requests will be reviewed individually. If you played up the previous season you are automatically placed with the same team unless otherwise requested by childs guardian.
